"I have been fascinated by the concept of off the grid homesteading for decades. My subscription to Mother Earth News gives me a monthly fix.

A few years ago I saw a couple of episodes of a reality TV show that featured three experts who rescued wannabe off the gritters who were in trouble. I was fascinated!

When I saw this book I had to get it especially since, unlike the reality TV shows, the author started with the backstory of how she got there.

Geo started dreaming of becoming a high level business manager when she was still in her teens. Part way through college she jumped right into a job and finished her degree at night. She relentlessly climbed the corporate ladder until she was 31. Disillusioned and burned out she knew she was at a turning point. She began a journey to "search for her soul."

Together with her husband and son, it took her almost 10 years to figure it out.

When I look back to those TV reality show episodes, they were not even close to the real-life reality Geo and her family experienced.

At first they started with a weekend property that was relatively close to the city they worked in. Their weekends were filled with hard, endless manual labor. But the fact was, it was fulfilling and satisfying. They loved what they were doing, and what they were creating. Over time the location that they were at became more crowded and busy and not to their liking so they started looking for a new property--this time REALLY off the grid.

They found a property that met their needs. It was just a property--no house, no water, no electricity, no nothing. They would have to build everything themselves, from scratch.

The story of what they went through was heart rending. The brutality of it, the discouragement, the disappointments. Yet they kept on going they had a dream. And they were determined to live that dream. I have nothing but admiration for the sheer guts and determination it took.

Geo did a huge amount of research into many aspects of off the grid living. And many aspects of living healthy. She incorporates many of her findings into the book. From her hopes for an Anastasia community to New German Medicine, Bach Floral Remedies, gratitude, vibration and writing on water.

Some may scoff at some of Geo's ideas, but I have always had an open mind and love to investigate and try new things. So while there are directions I will never go in, I've already started writing on water and exploring the concepts behind Bach Floral Remedies .

The bottom line is I love this book. It is an amazing story, and there are ideas in the book that I will be exploring for the next months or even years to come.

Thank you Geo for writing this book. For sharing what you and your family went through. And for showing us that it IS possible to find our souls.

Highly recommended. 10 Stars."
